League Update August 2022

Final pre-season preparations & important information

Welcome to the NW&GL for 2022/23

Welcome to this pre-season Northamptonshire Women's & Girls' League club update.   Since the AGM the new Committee have been working hard behind the scenes to try and complete a smooth transition from the old committee, including sorting access to bank accounts, IT systems and updating mailing lists.  All of this work has been happening alongside the usual pre-season preparation that needs to happen.

With this in mind, we would like to apologise if communication from us hasn't been as expected, but I'm delighted to say we are in a position now to be able to produce this update, which will form part of a quarterly update from the League.

In this edition we will cover:

  1. The new committee & contact details
  2. Pre-season timelines
  3. Age group divisions & format update
  4. League rules update

League Communication

Email is the preferred method of communication for all league matters, and the email addresses of all committee members are above.

We will be issuing a quarterly league update in this format which will go to all club secretaries who are encouraged to share this with managers/coaches etc with their clubs.

The Robin Road App will be updated with contact details and documents for the 2022/23 season.

We are aware that the league does have a Facebook page, but at present we don't have access to this.  It is an aim of the committee to improve the social media presence of the league, but this is a longer term target.

Player registrations are well underway, and whilst we don't have an official registrations officer at the moment, the league are still in a good position to be able to review & approve these registrations as & when they come in.

A big thank you to everyone who has made such a great start to the registration process.

The league is asking that the minimum number of players are registered by 12th August 2022

Age Group Specific Manager drop-in sessions

As a committee we understand that the format and make up of League Divisions is an important and emotive matter.  In order to consult effectively on our proposals for the format of each age group, we would like to invite all managers to attend a short virtual consultation meeting to discuss their specific age group.

Club Secretaries are also invited to these sessions, but we would really value the input of managers in this process also.

Some age groups are more straight forward than others, which is why we are keen to get the input of as many people as possible on the proposals below.

League Rules 22/23

Rules review update

The committee has been reviewing the rules as they are currently written and this has raised a couple of issues where the league rules contradict The FA's Standard Code of Rules (SCOR), which can't happen, so we're working to re-write the relevant sections to make them compliant with The FA's SCOR.

Once this has been done the rules will be circulated to all clubs ensuring that:

  • Re-written rules are highlighted
  • New rules (voted on under the previous committee) are highlighted

These rules will then be formally adopted at the EGM as per the timeline detailed above
